Staff Engineer - Advanced Technology
An exciting opportunity with the Advanced Technologies team currently involved in new cutting edge products and processes. In this innovative team you will be responsible for R&D Engineering. R&D engineering position that leverages applied research, design and development experience in new medical device and product development.


+ Strong emphasis on biomedical engineering with a broad multi-disciplinary R&D experience in design and development of implantable medical devices.

+ Apply engineering knowledge to design and development of new products, as well as product changes.

+ Solve mechanical engineering problems at the component and system levels.

+ Develop test methods and procedures to evaluate device prototype performances.

+ Maintain accurate documentation of concepts, designs, drawings, and processes.

+ Maintain current knowledge of competitive technologies in addition to medical, technical, and biomedical developments related to company products.

+ Generate written reports.

+ Assign work to technicians and temporary workers as needed. Interface with manufacturing, clinical affairs, quality, sales and marketing, outside consultants and vendors to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and procedures and FDA regulations.




+ Staff Engineer requires a minimum of six years' experience.

+ A bachelor's degree in mechanical, biomedical, or a related engineering discipline is required.

+ An advanced degree will offset some required experience.

+ Experience in new product development with demonstrated success from concept to commercialization is required.

+ Must possess knowledge of interventional devices, catheters, stent, biological material testing, and delivery systems, and possess a good understanding of manufacturing techniques. Nitinol experience a plus.

+ Effective communication, listening, and diagnostic skills are required to interface with physicians and consultants as well as with team members from various departments.

+ The ability to work well independently and as a team member is essential.

+ Strong documentation skills are required.

+ Preferred background includes experience in one or more of the following areas: interventional access devices, use of 3D CAD, rapid product development in cross-functional teams, creative design and hands-on prototyping, process development and design for manufacturing.

+ Must be a highly motivated self-starter able to achieve results with minimal direction.

+ Must be proactive and creative in solving technical problems.

+ Familiarity with LabView, Matlab and Pro-E are preferred.
